ANL Researchers win Bonner Prize

Robert B. Wiringa and Steven C. Pieper (figure 3) of Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) will receive the 2010 Tom W. Bonner Prize in Nuclear Physics, awarded for “quantitative, ab initio calculations of the properties of nuclei from A = 6–12, including deep physical insight into the nature of nuclear forces and the application of state-of-the-art computational physics.” Both are funded by Nuclear Physics and ASCR under SciDAC’s “Building a Universal Nuclear Energy Density Functional.”
